Marie Dermatt

Marie Dermatt

Marie was one of the Yorkshire girls, a petite model from Sheffield.

She was one of those who contacted ToCo herself. Marie was first featured in Span 47 with a single photo, then, a couple of months later, in Spick 58 − in a sequence that was a preview of things to come.

Marjorie Smith, long-time editor of other titles from 1956 onwards and later picture editor of Funfare, quickly immediately snaffled her up and gave her an entire magazine to herself, Funfare 9, with her on the cover, of course. The resulting photo-story called Don’t Fence Me In was not a bad start to what should have been a promising career. But we saw little of her after that. Wonder what happened to her.

Marie came from the time when many girls, not just the chubby ones, wore girdles as a matter of course. And she seems to take great delight in teasing us with a flash of the hem of those garments (regrettably never the full thing) whose fetish appeal has never died and that are going through something of a renaissance, with numerous web sites dedicated to their seductive delights.
