Grace Livingstone Jackson was a very professional model, with more Hollywood starlet aura than Hampshire girl-next-door charm; a showgirl and skilled acrobatic and ballet dancer who performed in the best clubs in London, Paris (one of the “Bluebelles” at the Lido) and Rome.
ToCo picture editor Robin Brewster leaves us in doubt as to whether she comes from London, Sanderstead in Surrey, or Portsmouth. But come on guys − with legs like hers, does it really matter?
The truth is that the house in Surrey was her parents’ house, where she lived until 1967. Some of the mags state that her father, Alexander Skinner Jackson, was a Scottish football international − which is quite true. Well done, Brewster. Unfortunately he died in 1946 whilst he was in the Army, stationed in Egypt. On July 15 1967, at the age of 31, Grace married Graham Anthony Cumpstone. Ever since, they have been living at Hillbury Road, Warlingham, Surrey – and, according to the 2014 electoral register, they are both still very much alive.
Grace appeared in a plethora of mags of the era, including Search, several editions of Silky, and the contemporary mag Photo Studio, in which she appears in a duo with Lorraine Burnett – which begs the question of whether she too was a Harrison Marks girl?
